Koromo & Ai-goromo

Ai-goromo
Ai-goromo is one type of Koromo family, the meaning of "Ai" is indigo blue.  Ai-goromo is a cross breeding between Asagi x Kohaku. Aigoromo have blue bordered scales on the Hi patches, but Hi on its head should be free of blue color. Ideal requirements in choosing Aigoromo: (1) The Hi pattern like that of the Kohaku requirement, (2) The large area of blue edged scales must be neatly aligned and like a netting pattern, (3) No blue color on the head Hi.

The other types of Koromo:
(1) Aigoromo that have Sumi bordered scales on the Hi patches i/o blue, called "Sumi-goromo", but black color also appear on the head Hi.
(2) Asagi x Kohaku also produce one type of koromo family, called "Budo Sanshoku", with violet colored Hi. Also, you can find the doitsu type of Budo Sanshoku.
(3) "Hagoromo" is type of Ai-goromo with the blue color over the body Hi, while cheeks and pectoral fins are red (female Asagi x  male Ogon).

If we describe all about Koromo family, it will be a lengthy discussion and some of them are classified as a Unique types. Even, if you are not an expert, it's terribly hard to distinguish among them since some of them are only slightly different. In this group, there are also some other types, such as:
(1) "Koromo Sanshoku" come from Ai-goromo x Taisho Sanshoku, this type has: (1.1) Hi marking with blue bordered scales. (1.2) Sumi pattern of Taisho Sanshoku - called "Hon Sumi", (1.3) Ai color of Koromo - called "Koromo Sumi".
(2) "Ai Showa" or "Koromo Showa" originally come from Ai-goromo x Showa Sanshoku. This type has "Koromo Sumi" and "Hon Sumi" come from Showa Sanshoku.
(3) "Shochikubai" are Hikarimono type of Ai-goromo, usually grouped as "Hikari-moyomono". for more illustrations to get the feeling, please  see my album.

Remind again: "Hi" in Japanese the meaning Red, "Sumi" in Japanese meaning Black and "Ai" the meaning is Indigo blue. "Doitsu" meaning no scales,  "Budo" in Japanese meaning is Grape and Shochikubai meaning is Pine-bamboo plum
